Just thought we could use this thread to post our 'green tips' so we can all make small yer profound efforts to protect our mother earth (sounds so corny doesnt it, lol)

heres mine for the day

Do you buy less to save more?

* Fridge empty? Pack it with water-filled containers like pitchers or water bottles; a fridge full of cool items retains the cold temp better and keeps efficiency high.

Hi!

Turn the tap of when brushing your teeth.. I know its obvious but people have a tendancy to leave the tap on all the way through brusing their teeth.

Another one switch to those energy saving light bulbs.. ull save alot on electricity also not have to change the bulb for about 5 years (they say 10-12 years but I reckon thats exaggerated or based on having the light turned on for like 3 hours a day!)

Vintage Clothes

Buzz High-end hand-me-downs (the smart set calls them vintage) are more ecologically sound than new clothes. Why? Buying a shirt the second time around means you avoid consuming all the energy used in producing and shipping a new one and, therefore, the carbon emissions associated with it. Every item of clothing you own has an impact on the environment. Some synthetic textiles are made with petroleum products. Cotton accounts for less than 3% of farmed land globally but consumes about a quarter of the pesticides. One quick way to change your duds: invite friends over for a closet swap, to which everyone brings a few items they want to trade. It's easy on the environment—and your wallet/purse.

Click on the read magazine button on the right and read about Japan's efforts to change their manufacturing, designing and thinking process so that they can become more eco-friendly

tip of the day:
Save and freeze leftovers, or arrange to donate them to a local shelter. Things like sauce left over from curries, pasta dishes etc etc, keep them, freeze them and next time you want to spice up a simple dish, you have a homecooked sauce ready to add. Save money, energy, no waste etc etc

2. When taking cabs, insisting that drivers turn off their headlights.

3. Switching to paperless death threats.

4. Instead of owning TV, watching neighbor's TV through telescope.

I’m only having one bath a month to save water and to avoid turning on the heat at night I’m sleeping in my jumper and jeans. I hope the penguins appreciate my sacrifice.
