Summer

Summer days where have you gone?
You've left me thinking, how did it go wrong?
Super sonic dreams, why did you leave?
Left to be deserted, I can no longer breathe.

Summer nights, when did you disappear?
Can’t make it stop, destructions path is clear,
Oxymoronic dreams you have gone astray,
From the clutches of my hands, no longer they pray.

Summer dawns, you no longer shine,
Joyful, triumphant memories, no longer mine,
Shattered dreams, that’s all you are shattered,
Persona, image identity, bruised and battered.

Welcome to the village of sleepless victims,
Each to their own, living life on a whim,
Shadows casting backwards, no soul left within,
The black sheep of the family, the odd one of the kin.

Welcome to the hamlet of faceless faces,
All ashamed of their ego’s, all of them a waste,
Sheltered in their lightless corridors,
They have lost their pride, no longer great warriors.

This is the town of the dispirited leader,
Once king of the food chain, now a lowly feeder,
Contemplating their once passionate demeanours
Now they can’t bare themselves nor their lacklusture misdemeanours.

Welcome to the mind of the lifeless ordinary,
Summer nights here are nothing but ordinary.
Calculating the falls of all modern heroes,
I am nothing more than wrapped in my needless ego.

This is good Mabrur. Both the directors seem to have a shared talent I see
Just a question thou. What was the mental picture in your mind when you wrote this? The scenario that was playing in your mind, as it were, that you based this poem on.

loads of different things. firstly i suffer from SAD and i wrote this in the middle of winter. Secondly, i was longing for a sunday late evening with hazy sunshine. thirdly it is written about the rise and fall of all family units.

i dont know if i would call it talent, in fact i am certain that it is not, just expression thats all.

Hi there, I was just wondering (and I will word this very poorly, forgive me), how do you work, as in letting your creativity flow? I'm often curious about this when considering the relationship between the writer and product, in particular the PROCESS as that also says much about said piece. I mean do you rework the piece, have numerous drafts or just a few changes after a moment of inspiration?

PS which magazine do you work for?

Sorry if I sound a bit intrusive.

nothing intrusive whatsoever, lol. No, for me it normally builds up for a few days, so i will have a few thoughts running through my head but wont put them on paper. However, when I do write anything i have a semi ritual lol. I write with a particular pen and it is written in a particular book and i write backwars as in rather from pages going right to left, it goes left to right, lol. just bad habits i guess. finally i never rework something, its always written and finished in one go and more often than not its done within a few minutes. recently i have changed my style and i feel i have written a couple of really strong pieces which i am proud of recently. my writing style has changed a lot. i am able to express myself more openly now and i think thats probably me just being more sure about what i write.

sorry for the essay lol. i work for a very dull magazine called Total Telecom lol

I have to reply to this - you freak! I do the same you see, write back to front when flipping pages. I always carry a notebook round with me. Failing that, the text option on the mobile is an excellent alternative. Save in drafts? Hell, yeah!

Interesting - I had you down as a writer for a more, er, creative magazine, hehe... ;-)

lol, i dont write for the magazine, if i did it would be doing a hell of a lot better than the drivel they spew out now lol. My forte is sales and marketing, i have never taken my writing seriously at all. that is quite crazy that you write backwards as well, lol

The more 'serious' stuff i'm a little particular about sharing. Being subject to criticism I guess. I do write a lot of nonsense as well though. I like to think of myself as a silly little rapper.

Sometimes I like to indulge in spittin' lyrics
Unintentionally having people in hysterics
Slippin' into gangsta mode
Allow da streets, I'm talking about the road
I'm a regular chameleon can't you see?
Just be careful when you're about,
Trust, you don't wanna step on me

Er, that's the sort of nonsensical lyrics I spew
Passes the minutes, it does, a few...

lol, fair enough, nice and light hearted.

i dont think i have ever writtenanything light hearted, must be my hours of brooding and listenting to depressing emo music, lol. id like to read some of your serious stuff and dont worry, i dont think we have any harsh crtiques in here so im sure it will all be positive. sure to say though, i will give you my honest opinion.

Haha, you, emo?! Nah, don't fink so! Mind you, stranger things have happened. I've also been known to have a darker side, I used to be a bit of a grunger at one time. Bring on the mosh pits! And I own some Nirvana albums. Sigh.

It is important to chill out though and indulge in the lighter aspects of life, ya know? As for writing, you're living proof that one doesn't have to have a formal background in the art of painting with words. It may sound contrived and cheesy but expression and creativity comes from having a passion to do so and it takes balls (sorry to be so crude) to put stuff up there and take criticism as it comes.

I'm just a wuss, really.

I look forward to your next piece.
