Salaams and greetings to all!!

On sunday the 6th of July i will be risking life, limb and my reputation for the cause of the greater good, that is for the sake of the Muslim Youth Helpline (MYH). I will be running (or more like trying my best, probably will walk it and be dragged kicking and screaming most of the way) the 10k, without any training or anything. I am putting my life on the line because i believe in the work that is carried out by the Muslim Youth Helpline as the organisation itself is a comfort in desolation for many young muslims who are alone, anxious and depressed.

MYH means many things for many young people, it is a refuge for those whose lives are in turmoil and dont know who to turn to, it is a space where many people can come and feel that they are worth something and feel normal when the world has made them feel abnormal and insignificant, it is a creative space for young people who have bright idea's, big heart and alot of zest and spirit, for some it is Islam embodied.

MYH have dealt over the past few years over the phone, email and now over the internet with some really tough issues such as sexual abuse, self harm and depression. however the majority of its work is dealing with young people going through what some people may percieve as 'mundane day to day issues such as employment, education, relationships etc' but it is these issues that render incapable a persons ability to live a life that they have reason to value.

i am urging you to dig deep into your pockets, for a penny, a pound or more for the Muslim Youth Helpline, not for me but for a cause that is bigger and better than the sum of I.
