Why not collect old televisions sets that nobody wants here and ship them to Bangladesh to be sold?

I know someone who does this with white goods. He is sending a lot of stuff to Nigeria. People call him and he even collects the stuff.

There must be lots of people with old tv’s that nobody want here but in Bangladesh someone might be willing to pay at least £60 for it. All you’d have to do is make sure the container was full and I’m sure there is some money in it.

“for every old tv; another child is saved”

or something.

I think it's a great idea to send stuff over, but not old television set. Look at the generation of kids coming up today - corrupted by the box. I think the little ones in Bangladesh would appreciate it, no doubt, but I don't think in the long scope of things it'll benefit them as much as other things.

But yeah, sporting goods, books etc are perfect for this kind of thing.

that is a good idea

if things can be accumulated in one place cheaply and easily then once theres enough it could be shipped off to be distributed fairly amongst the poor.
who can then sell off to make some profit or use for their own benefit

well thats ideally how it would work i think.
reality would maybe present problems in storage, involve high costs (?) in transportations side, high possibilities of bribe issues at bagladesh ports, transportation and distribution,
and unfair final distribution amongst the people maybe?

ud probably need someone trustable to handle things on the desh side.

Although watching long hours of TV in general is a bad thing. Strength of any great civilisation has always been the organisation of knowledge and easy access to it. So in that regard, i think it is a good idea to have TV in every house in BD :D This way, whether these kids go to school or not, atleast they have a window into the rest of the world. Some might even see that world, like it and do everything they can to pursue it.

Its the whole idea of Blue Peter. BP became popular because when it first started people didn't travel much. Most of the families in UK did not have enough money to see all these wonders of the world. BP helped the families, especially the kids, see all these countries, cultures, animals and other things, just from the comfort of their home.

Even when i was young watching BP i would think "I would love to go there, do that, eat that food" :D LOL It makes you want to try a little bit harder at school :D

Anyway, too much TV is bad for you! But not enough is also in some sense bad :D
