I predict in about 30 years time, people will be allowed to form incestuous relationships based on their right to have "personal freedom", in the same way that society has afforded homosexuals the right to be homosexual.

Think about it. What's really the difference between homosexuality and incest, except that incest is currently seen as social unnacceptable? Homosexuality was viewed in the same way and yet now its considered ok!

- You can't say incest is any more unnatural than homosexuality.
- You can't say that incest is harmful to society any more than homosexuality (homosexuality = greater risk of STDs, incest = genetic problems (which may actually be overcome by modern medicine using screening).
- To restrict incest would be to curtail a couples individual right to choose their partner (if consensual of course) Human rights issues?

Remember, a few decades ago, people thought it was crazy/illegal to indulge in homosexuality, and would've laughed at the possibility that homosexuality would be considered "normal" and ok. And look what we have today!

So what's your view on this?! Can we rely on society to define what is morally right/wrong, seeing as it seems to change its values like the wind?!

i share ur view

richard dawkins introduced the idea of the 'moral zeitgiest', this is the idea that morals evolve with the times.
he says we dont need religion to guide us morally because morals evolve on their own, i think he might be right, but i dont agree with where morals are heading.

Normality is subjective and change is inevitable, as long as thes etwo things exist, the most unthinkable of things will occur.

Think of this way. The worse things get in our society, the better we will be tested ;)

well i once heard a lecture by Dr Zakir Naik and i think what he said regarding how do we clarify what is right and what is wrong is absolutely correct.

we cannot rely on society to define what is right and what is wrong. the example he used was that in America it is absolutely perfectly fine for a woman to go out dressed in a mini skirt however this is not the norm in a muslim country and it is wrong. so if so many different people have so many different views how on earth can we decide what is right and what is wrong between us?

i agree with kadirs point, it is quite likely that in 30 yrs down the line incest will be a norm. this is just the kind of world that we live in these days. just shows how close we are to the end!
