Talkin bout the 90's now?

What does everyone think of old R&B artists and groups like Jodeci, Blackstreet, Next, 112, R Kelly (the old style), Joe, Monica, Brandy, Ginuwine, SWV, Total etc

Recently that's all I've been listening to, not feelin' todays music.....must be gettin old

Anyone like the Presets? You probably have heard them if you think you haven't (see My People)
http://www.myspace.com/thepresets

Went to review them last night, they were on fire! Crowd loved 'em, heck, I loved 'em!

As for 90s, they rocked (in the R n B sense, and pop!). I think when you have an older brother and cousins into all of that, you kinda natural get into it. You're right, the quality was much better back then, I mean you can still listen to it all now, though admittedly it can sound dated (well, to be fair, it WAS the 90s, more than a decade ago in many cases!)

Yeah the quality was definitely better, although artists like Usher still make good music, compared to the older style, I think it lacks that "flava" that we had back in the 90's. Same goes for hip hop.

Plus you don't get bands like Oasis or Blur anymore either :s

Oasis was good but with coldplay around, i'm not suffering too much

Mac, totally agree with you, all i have on replay is Bedouin Soundclash, Joe, Sean Kingston (i love him), Robin Thicke and soem tabla

112, R Kelly (before he turned into a grimey so and so), Brandy.... Oh bring it back ON!

Much to the dismay of music snobs I know, I love Oasis. I'm attempting Live Forever on guitar, see how that pans out.

On another note, I've been accepted to be one of the reviewers at Latitude Festival http://www.latitudefestival.co.uk/home/ with potential to interview, which entails me covering literary and music acts, oh yeah! It has pretty decent headliners (Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros, Interpol), and the other beauty of it, bar the music is that it encapsulates pretty much all aspects of the art world, film, comedy etc. Aside form the music side of things, I'm particularly looking forward to a bit of Hanif Kureishi (anyone else a fan?). Reviews will be uploaded throughout (there's around 8 of us) should you wish to have a butcher's at our opinions. Now alls I need is help pitching up my tent. Again.

Hey, that sounds awesome! :)
Nice one. How did you manage that?

As for Oasis, yes, a lover here too. They will always be close to my heart. But coldplay are closer.

I have a few books by H. Kureishigetting dusty on shelves after a module in contemporary british literature and theatre, but my facve is still Balck Album. Buddha fo Suburbia was interesting but i think his quips with words are outdated in my opinion. He needs a literary revival.

I have to say, Coldplay's Parachutes alb is kinda special. I'm not so keen on the more recent stuff, however.

The festival were advertising for review submissions and resons for wanting to take part, and they selected from there.

I totally agree, it can seem dated. However, that's problematic I think of most 'contemporary' literature, how long can it ba classed as that etc, reasons for it, etc. Irvine Welsh will be there as well, and I'm a huge fan of Trainspotting, book and film. Again, that may seem slightly dated comparatively, oh well, I'm not making much sense, or am I? Gosh, sometimes I wonder how I manage to sound coherent at times.

Oh, I've started listening to Nick Cave stuff finally. In my eyes, he's already The Man. What a lyricist. The delivery too. The music. Themes. Everyfink.
