arctics are not all that, scummy man was a good song but the rest are average. in fact i would go so far as to say as the arctics are just another band riding on the wave of the a resurgent brit popo culture which is at best average.
wonderwall is a classic but ryan adam's version of it is much better. oasis's killer tracks are wonderwall, dont look back in anger, champagne supernova and stop crying your heart out.
a great song which i havent heard in a long time is 'your love gets sweeter every day' by finley quaye. great vibes. 'dice' by finley quaye is brill too.
whilst we are also on the subject of the clash, the who and all that, who is a fan of David Bowie?
I love Lets Dance. I bought my cousin a rare vinyl for his 35th bithday which cost me 30 quid but is worth 300 now. its he vinyl that was used to air it first in the world from radio 1.
also heroes and under pressure from david bowie, not forgetting, the best of the lot Ground Control To Major Tom, in fact the whole space oddity EP is just on another level completely
I also have a rare vinyl for Pop by U2 which was the one of only 10 copies in the world with exclusive extras.
I completely disagree, the arctics, if anything filled the void post-Libertines (another high in the indie world) though admittedly you get bands watered down, riding on the coat tails syndrome (see the Fratellis, the View et al). The monkeys' first alb in my eyes (and many others) is most def a brilliant debut album. ...look good on dancefloor is a stroke of genius, talking of strokes, anyone like The Strokes?
Live Forever and Half the World Away another couple of greats from Oasis I think.
My neighbours (who are to blame for a Nirvana phase, and yes, I hold Kurt Cobain to be an all-time great 'n' all) got me into a bit of Ziggy Stardust. Wow, cool stuff about the vinyls! I have dibs on my dad's Indian and Bengali vinyl collection, some great original covers. Unfortunately I only have albums on CDs. there's summat special abuot vinyls though.
Anyone like Vampire Weekend? A-Punk and Cape Cod Wassa Wassa are must-listens. Their sound is very quirky, diverse influences show through. They are pretty good live too, saw them at primavera, though they do lack charisma and stage presence in between songs, crap at on stage banter.
