Hey guys,
I came across this a while back - thought it was a good read; it basically goes into the determinants of child labour in Bangladesh - what it is about their situation that frces them to take up work.

Its quite basic really - facts that we can highlight at the launch perhaps.

http://www.entrepreneur.com/tradejourna ... 650_1.html

Have a read - just read page 1 & 2 though! The rest is details about the study itself.

Another link with good facts and figures of the child labour situation in Bangladesh - though it provides details uptil 2001.

http://www.dol.gov/ILAB/media/reports/i ... ladesh.htm

Here you see mentioned the ILO (International Labour Organisation) - personally I think we should know about them since we will be providing the kids in our rehab centre with technical knowledge.

I did a document about them, which I think Mabrur has a copy of, which details who they are, what they do and how it applies to RB. I cant seem to be able to attach Word docs to the forum...so I'll either bring it to the meeting or give ya'll a short summary of it. Whatever works best.

Guys i have had a look at these links and have printed them out to read on the tube, could they not be put in to digestable chunks for everyone to take away in the meeting to read? or we could even go through them in the meeting

Did anyone watch Sports relief? They had something on there about street kids in Bangladesh, they showed a volunteer who is out there trying to help and care for these kids, Tess Daley was out there showing what a difference sports relief is making............?? NOt too sure tho I dont belive them most of the time, I do wonder alot where all ths money goes to....

I was also told that this money isnt given to other coutries its borrowd to them? so they are in even more debt - Its hard to know what to believe these days, i dont trust these big organisations and the like thats for sure

Also Brain food is a great subject but should it go under another heading on the forum? Or even be a heading of its own which just had information/articles about our projects?

I swear I did this already...but I cant see it on the forum :?

Anyway:

Knowledge Of The Day:

A short journal article on suicide rates amongst Aboriginal youths in Canada - which has been increasing exponentially over the years due to "...cultural barriers....[and].....socio-cultural factors."
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articl ... d=18056592

I know Canada is not a third world country but there are people are constantly discriminated against.

Goes to show that Refugees aren’t welcomed anywhere and Bengalis can be racist as well.
