I know celine you asked for modern bengali pop, but you should listen to some Manna Dey, awesome music also Aishe Sengupta and not forgetting Babu.

I never used to like bengali music that much but have recently really statrted getting into it. Most of it is pants, but you do get the odd one which is very good.

Rahima you're a legend! I dont listen to Bangla music (frankly because I've not come across anything to my liking) but there was this one day that I caught that song on TV and not only was I impressed but also deeply moved by it.
Its the 30 Bochor by Haider Hussain (1st link). Bought me close to tears when I heard it - his lyrics are tragically true.
